Choral Conducting Institute with Dr. Amanda Quist

The 2025 Choral Conducting Institute invites applications from conductors and conducting students for a unique six days of choral singing and sessions focused primarily on the art of rehearsing.
Strategies for developing choral sound, for creating compelling performances, for bridging generational differences, and for repertoire selection will be built around the cornerstones of observation and response. Institute participants will sing in the Adult Choir Camp choir, led by master-conductor and director of the Adult Choir Camp, Dr. Amanda Quist, and have ample opportunities to interact with her regarding rehearsal preparation, pacing, and outcomes.
The 2025 Choral Conducting Institute at Interlochen will focus on what happens during the time spent together before the concert. Few workshops allow enough time to deal with the nuts and bolts, the magnificent possibilities, and the remarkable musical moments that occur when the conductor and singers are truly present in the spontaneity and inspiration of growing a wonderful choir. Six Choral Conducting Institute applicants will be accepted and receive tuition waivers and complimentary housing and meals.
Under the direction of award-winning conductor Dr. Amanda Quist, Adult Choir Camp and Choral Conducting Institute participants will enjoy an immersive opportunity to sing in a full vocal ensemble, and experience daily vocal warm-ups, sectional rehearsals led by talented faculty section leaders, enriching afternoon discussions, and the fellowship of colleagues and faculty as a part of evening artistic and social activities in beautiful northern Michigan.
The program culminates with a final public performance, with orchestra, on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
