More than 40 years after the passing of their legendary founder, The Count Basie Orchestra continues Basie’s legacy of grandeur and musical excellence. The original Count Basie Orchestra was one of the defining ensembles of the big band era and the first choice of leading jazz vocalists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Joe Williams. Today’s group has won 18 Grammy Awards—including a 2024 prize for Basie Swings the Blues—played for royalty, appeared on television and film, and performed at every major venue and jazz festival in the world. Led by current musical director Scotty Barnhart, the Orchestra shares a setlist of old and new favorites such as “One O’Clock Jump,” “Jumpin’ At the Woodside,” “April in Paris,” and “Lil’ Darlin’."

Special guest David Benoit, a GRAMMY Award-nominated pianist, composer, and arranger, has been a leading figure in contemporary jazz for over four decades, releasing 41 solo albums, including classics like Freedom at Midnight (1987) and Every Step of the Way (1988). He has collaborated with artists such as Patti Austin, Dave Koz, and Brian McKnight; composed music for Peanuts television specials; and scored films like The Stars Fell on Henrietta. Benoit has conducted major symphonies worldwide and received multiple accolades, including the Excellence in Music Award from the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. Currently, he tours regularly, and serves as the Music Director & Conductor for the Asia America Symphony Association.
