In memoriam: May/June 2020
We are saddened to share that philanthropist and longtime Interlochen supporter Bill Paine passed away in late March. Although he never attended Interlochen as a student, Paine was an avid IPR listener and regular concert attendee. He was particularly fond of World Youth Symphony Orchestra performances, and missed only a handful of the ensemble’s concerts over the past 40 years. In 2016, Paine founded the Paine Orchestral Scholars, a program that provides five full-tuition Camp scholarships to talented orchestral musicians each summer. “I simply cannot thank you enough for your generosity and passion for finding the next generation of young artists,” said scholarship recipient Andrew. “I am inconceivably thankful for the opportunity.”
