Why Take Advanced Flute Intensive

Flutists require deftness, musicality, and poise. You'll work with world-renowned flutists to hone those skills while also refining your tone, artistry, and stage presence. Our one-week intensive is an outstanding opportunity for you to seriously develop and prepare for further flute study.

What You'll Learn 

Our class size allows for faculty to focus on personalized instruction. You'll spend your week immersed in intensive study, workshops, and master classes.

  • Solo repertoire
  • Orchestral excerpts

You will also have the opportunity to participate in:

  • 30-minute private lessons
  • Workshops on preparing for college auditions, managing performance anxiety, and improvisation
  • Stretching and Pilates for flutists

Program Highlights

Distinguished Faculty

Our instructors are professional artists who are active participants in the music world. They have dedicated their lives to studying and sharing music. Their mentorship will help you as you continue your music journey.

The Music Center

Our state-of-the-art music facility has two 3,500 square-foot rehearsal halls, two recording studios, which allow for rehearsal and performance recordings in multiple venues on campus multiple ensemble and practice rooms, and individual faculty teaching studios. Learn more about The Music Center.

You are welcome to apply to the high school Orchestra & Wind Ensemble or Jazz Performance & Improvisation programs that both begin immediately after this intensive.

Interlochen is also home to the Arts Academy boarding high school, which offers six music programs for grades 9-12, as well as a post-graduate year.
