Announcing the theatre titles for Interlochen Arts Camp 2025
Arts Camp students will perform an exciting selection of plays and musicals including ‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,’ ‘Shakespeare in Love,’ ‘The Secret Garden,’ and more.

Tony Award-nominated jukebox musical Beautiful: The Carole King Musical will headline the summer 2025 theatre season at Interlochen Arts Camp.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical—which made its Broadway premiere in 2014—chronicles the early career and tumultuous personal life of the titular singer-songwriter. The show features a book by Douglas McGrath and more than two dozen classic pop hits penned by King, Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil, including “One Fine Day,” “Natural Woman,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” and “The Locomotion.” High School Musical Theatre Production students will stage this unforgettable biographical work.
Other works to be performed during the summer 2025 season—which will run June 23 to Aug. 3—include:
- High School Acting Company Production: Shakespeare in Love by Lee Hall
- Intermediate Musical Theatre Production: The Secret Garden | Music and lyrics by Marsha Norman | Music by Lucy Simon | Adapted from the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett
- Intermediate Acting Company Production: The Jungle Book | Adapted by Joseph Robinette | Based on the book by Rudyard Kipling
- Junior Theatre Production: Romeo & Juliet & Many Other Friends | Based on the play by William Shakespeare | Adapted for Interlochen’s junior actors
The work to be performed by students in the Junior Musical Theatre Production program will be announced soon. Recent productions include James and the Giant Peach, Starmites Lite, Imagine It!, and Dear Edwina, JR.
The Interlochen Arts Camp Theatre Division provides rigorous and engaging theatre training for emerging actors in grades 3-12. Under the guidance of renowned theatre artists and educators, students explore daily classes in a variety of topics and rehearse for end-of-session productions and showcases. Notable alumni include Tony Award-winning actor Victoria Clark; Emily in Paris star Ashley Park; Tony Award-nominated Broadway and television actor Sarah Pidgeon; RENT original Broadway cast member Anthony Rapp; Tony Award-nominated playwright and MacArthur “Genius Grant” recipient Sarah Ruhl; and The New York Times chief theatre critic Jesse Green, among many others.
Applications are now open for all 2025 Arts Camp programs. Camp theatre programs fill up quickly; prospective students are encouraged to apply by the Jan. 15, 2025 priority application deadline for placement in their top-choice program.
