Swan Lake, staged by the Interlochen Arts Academy Dance Division, is a tragic tale of love, duty, and regret. A betrothed prince believes he encounters a beautiful maiden who has been transformed into a swan by a sorcerer's curse. As the prince attempts to break the enchantment, the sorcerer plots to trick the prince into betraying the woman he loves—bringing him back to the reality of his royal life. The performance features exquisite costumes, dazzling scenic design, performances by the Dance students of Interlochen Arts Academy, and original choreography by Director of Dance Joseph Morrissey. Conductor Dr. Leslie B. Dunner leads a combined ensemble of Traverse City Philharmonic and Arts Academy Orchestra musicians in Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's iconic score. This breathtaking production will captivate audiences new and familiar to classical ballet.
