Interlochen President Trey Devey named one of Musical America’s 30 Professionals of the Year
Devey joins a list of honorees that includes leaders from the Chicago Opera Theater, Frost School of Music, and Yamaha
Interlochen Center for the Arts President Trey Devey has been named one of Musical America Worldwide’s 30 Professionals of the Year.
The 30 Professionals of the Year list highlights "innovators, independent thinkers, and entrepreneurs" who keep the arts fresh, dynamic, and responsive to the times. Now in its sixth year, the list is drawn from a pool of nominees recommended by Musical America’s leaders.
“What always strikes me about this group of individuals is their passion, creativity, and dedication to making the arts thrive, even—perhaps especially—in times of adversity,” said Susan Elliott, Editor of Special Reports at Musical America Worldwide. “These are the folks that make our industry tick, who get the artists to the stage, who help build the audiences and train the artists of tomorrow.”
Devey joins a list that encompasses educators, entrepreneurs, composers, artists, and media personalities. His fellow honorees include: Christine Taylor Conda, Chair of the Board of Directors for El Sistema USA; Linden Christ, Director of Education at Chicago Opera Theater; composer Evan Mack; and WQXR Evening Host Terrance McKnight.
“It’s an honor to be included amongst the ranks of such an important and diverse group of individuals. Many of whom I have had the privilege to get the know over the years, and have had the opportunity to see the impact of their hard work first-hand,” said Devey. “With that said, this isn’t just a personal honor, but a recognition of the tireless work and dedication demonstrated day after day by my peers and colleagues at Interlochen. It’s their commitment to the arts and our students that truly demonstrates the importance and impact of arts education.”
