Music where you least expect it
Interlochen Public Radio will host “IPR Live” summer concert series around northern Michigan
Throughout the month of June, Interlochen Public Radio will present IPR Live, a multi-city concert series of live music pop-ups at unusual and fun locations throughout the region. The series aims to bring a reimagined spin on classical music to northern Michigan, with IPR Live popping up at local wineries, breweries, parks, and even an iconic ice cream shack!
“Part of our mission at Interlochen Public Radio is to create and support artists connecting with their audiences,” said Executive Director Peter Payette. “IPR Live isn’t formal or fussy, in fact just the opposite. These concerts reflect the laid-back vibe that only our summers bring. I’m excited to watch the series grow and continue into the future.”
Featuring a variety of musical styles, IPR Live includes performances from Detroit-based Six Mile Strings, Washington D.C.-based Argentinian-inspired QuinTango, Lansing-based PULSE: Saxophone Quartet, and Interlochen Center for the Arts’ new artist residents The Sound Garden Quartet, along with Interlochen veterans Matthew Cochran, Crispin Campbell, and writer and poet Michael Delp.
Most performances will be presented free to the public courtesy of Golden-Fowler Home Furnishings of Traverse City and Interlochen Public Radio.
