Record number of volunteers leading the charge for Act for Art, May 1 - 3
Interlochen’s 4th annual Act for Art giving days are happening this week, May 1-3. A record 141 people are volunteering their time and talents to spread the word far and wide.
19 Campers from last summer were the first volunteers to start acting for art this year, sending in videos in February sharing how their Interlochen experiences impacted their lives, and encouraging donors to join in with their support during the upcoming giving days.
Those young artists started a flurry of volunteer activity in 2024 to support Act for Art, which each year rallies the Interlochen community to give to support student scholarships and experiences and unlock challenge dollars offered by leadership donors. 17 Interlochen families from alumni to parents to employees and trustees stepped forward with a challenge gift to inspire others to give during this year’s Act for Art, another record number.
In addition to those activities, dozens of others have signed up to spread the word on social media, start their own peer to peer fundraising pages, or participate in some of the fun activities happening on campus. The Academy student volunteers who comprise the Student Philanthropy Team have been hard at work planning a kickoff party for May 1 that will include a Hunger Games themed round of Super Action Fun Ball (an Academy year favorite recreational activity) along with volunteer stations for students to participate in Act for Art to help promote the effort.
Between the actions of volunteers around the country, and some acting internationally, plus the creative energy of the student volunteers on campus, Act for Art is well-poised to meet the goal of 400 donors taking action to support Interlochen’s talented young artists. You can help by participating in Act for Art today.
Several alumni and parents are sharing their personal Interlochen stories as one more way to help the effort throughout Act for Art. One of those storytellers includes Julie Jeffries, a current Academy parent and year-round volunteer on the Interlochen Annual Fund Committee. Her thoughts are a perfect encapsulation of the spirit of Interlochen’s giving days:
“My heart is filled with gratitude for the opportunity afforded to my daughter by generous donors to Interlochen. I dream that, one day, everyone will value art as fundamental to education and growth in the way that all of us Interlochen families and supporters understand. It is the greatest tool for raising awareness, resolving conflict, and creating a better future. Until then, let's keep the song in our hearts and tools in the hands of the kids who are going to be the positive change we need in the world tomorrow.”
Join in with Julie and all of these phenomenal Interlochen volunteers with your own gift during Act for Art: give today.
