About Andre

Andre Bradford, a.k.a. S.C. Says, is an Austin based award-winning slam poet, author, and keynote speaker championing empathetic leadership. He's toured and featured at venues, universities, and conferences across the country, delivering a one of a kind blend of poetry, research, and story to both inform and inspire audiences. His slam poetry experience titled Kintsukuroi: Building with Purposeful Empathy has been shared with tens of thousands all over the country to rave reviews. He's the author of the powerful poetry collection Golden Brown Skin and frequent collaborator with the performance group Early Era Collective. He also once popped a bag of popcorn without burning a single kernel, which is arguably one of his greatest achievements.

His poetry covers a gamut of topics ranging from being mixed race, to social justice, to mental health awareness, to never settling in relationships. Slam poetry is an art form he loves due to its raw vulnerability and its ability to cultivate transparency and dialogues into many different walks of life.

I believe we are story driven beings, and the ability to craft moving stories in any medium is both a necessity and a gift we get to give over and over again. I encourage all of the students I work with to find the weird in their work, to use words as paint and the page as an infinite canvas to create the world that's already brilliantly displayed in their minds. Also, just like, have fun, you know?
