Ben Lohrberg is an actor, director, singer, composer and teaching artist based in Minneapolis, MN. As a performer, his work has been seen regionally at the Guthrie Theater, Ten Thousand Things Theater Company, Park Square Theatre, Titan Theatre Company, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre, the Interlochen Shakespeare Festival, and with the National 24 Hour Musicals Festival. As a director, he is specifically interested in emerging texts that empower young voices. He has recently directed works at the University of Minnesota / Guthrie Theater B. F. A. Actor Training Program, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre, Bryant Lake Theatre, Interlochen Arts Camp, and Pillsbury House & Theatre’s Chicago Avenue Project, including several world premieres.
Following a sold out run of his solo cabaret, Dream With Me, at Feinstein's/54 Below in NYC, Lohrberg released a cover album of the same title available on all streaming platforms. He has multiple musical works in development including a new album of original songs, Blue Sanctuary (releasing early 2023) and Imagine It!, a New Children’s Musical with co-writer Sophina Saggau (IAA ’14), premiering at Interlochen Arts Camp in the Summer of 2022.
Lohrberg is currently an Instructor of Voice and Songwriting at Chanson Voice & Music Academy in St. Paul, MN, and continues to offer theatre and vocal workshops across the midwest and abroad. He is a National YoungArts Winner and received his education from Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Minnesota / Guthrie Theater B. F. A. Actor Training Program, with addition training in classical text at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, England.
I aim to empower young voices through the language of musical theatre. I challenge student actors to boldly express their individuality and to think critically about the stories we tell, by creating a space which is safe, collaborative, and absolutely joyful.
