Callie Rekas
About Callie
Callie Rekas is a dance and drama educator, artist, and scholar. She earned her M.A. in Dance Education with an emphasis in Ballet Pedagogy at New York University and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Arts Education at Indiana University. Rekas is a member of SAG-AFTRA, a committee member and frequent presenter for the National Dance Education Organization, and serves on the City of Bloomington’s Commission on the Status of Children and Youth. Rekas is fully certified to teach the American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum (Pre-Primary-Level 7) and has taught dance at Interlochen Arts Academy, American Youth Dance Theatre, the JKO School, and more. In 2022, she was one of four graduate students awarded a scholarship to attend the National Dance Education Organization conference, where she presented her master's thesis. Rekas is passionate about helping her students to bridge technique and performance quality and hopes to cultivate unique artistic identities in each of her students.
I encourage my students to take ownership of their learning and their accomplishments; perseverance and problem-solving are two of the most important qualities I can help them to cultivate.
