About Camille
Camille Mitchell is a performer, playwright, and puppeteer from San Antonio, Texas. As an improviser, Mitchell currently performs with ComedySportz Chicago and has performed with ComedySportz San Antonio, The iO Theater’s The Pool, and nationally with several independent teams. As a writer, Mitchell was a recipient of the Zach Helm Endowed Playwriting Scholarship, was a writer/correspondent for The Second City's The News with Maggie Smith and participated in three years of The Theatre School’s Wrights of Spring Festival, featuring 3G, a ten-minute play; Dakota, a one act; and her full-length play, Gut. In New York City, Mitchell assistant directed and performed in Romeo + Juliet with Lady Shakes Theatre Company, an all womxn+ Shakespeare company. As an arts educator, Mitchell teaches theatre at Interlochen Arts Camp, teaches Arts Adventure for Interlochen Online, and collaborates with classrooms and schools through her puppetry program, Puppet World. Before Interlochen, Mitchell worked as the Lower Elementary Drama Teacher at Brooklyn Heights Montessori School.
The theatre is a highly vulnerable, curious, and wonderful space. I encourage students to remember that the stories we share within it unite us in better understanding one another. Peacemaking and understanding is possible when we channel our emotions towards the greater good—when we use our stories to celebrate our collective experience.
