About Carolyn
Carolyn Caputo-McCauley (IAC/IAA Parent 15-21) is a passionate dancer, choreographer, and educator. She began her dance training with the British Association of Teachers of Dance, where she earned her Teaching Diploma in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Stage. Carolyn continued her education at Ryerson University in the BFA Theatre Dance Program. She then trained with The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, where she had the privilege to perform under the direction of many renowned Canadian choreographers.
Carolyn has her Diploma in Early Childhood Education, which proved beneficial in her 25-year career as a dance educator. She takes pride in sharing her talent, energy, and love to inspire all her students to dream, believe and achieve. She is a STOTT-certified Pilates instructor and has trained both competitive dancers and cheerleaders in Pilates-based conditioning.
She has continued to be an advocate for the arts in the educational system and has facilitated multiple projects and performances within the local school system.
In addition to her work in education, Carolyn currently sits on the Board of Directors of Fringe North International Theatre Festival and the Musical Comedy Guild of Sault Ste. Marie.
Carolyn and her husband live in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, and are the proud parents of two Interlochen Arts Academy students. Their eldest, Alexandria, attended Interlochen Arts Academy for four years, graduating in 2019 an is studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Their youngest, Luca, graduated from the Academy in 2021 and is presently studying Vocal Performance at the University of Toronto. Both their children attended Interlochen Arts Camp for one summer.
