Christopher Goodpasture
About Christopher
Praised by the Dallas Morning News for his “rhetorical grandeur, romantic warmth and surefire technique,” American pianist and Steinway Artist Christopher Goodpasture serves as Instructor of Piano at the Interlochen Arts Academy.
As the winner of the 2020 New York Concert Artists Worldwide Debut Auditions and the 2019 Astral Artists National Competition in Philadelphia, Goodpasture has since performed in major concert halls across North America, Europe, and Asia, as well as the festivals of Ravinia, Caramoor, and as fortepianist at the Valley of the Moon Music Festival. He has made regular appearances with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Bucks County Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of New York, Dallas Chamber Symphony, Sioux City Symphony, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Oakville Symphony in Toronto, and the Joven Orquesta Leonesa in Léon, Spain, among others.
From 2018-20, Goodpasture was a member of the New York-based Ensemble Connect, a fellowship program of Carnegie Hall and The Juilliard School, emphasizing chamber music, audience engagement, and mentorship for young musicians. His active interest in commissioning contemporary music has led to residencies at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and resulted in original works and premieres by George E. Lewis, Douglas Knehans, Jules Matton, and jazz pianist Benoît Delbecq.
A native of Los Angeles, California, Goodpasture furthered his studies at the University of Southern California and the Glenn Gould School in Toronto and pursued graduate degrees at The Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music. Currently, he is finishing his doctoral candidacy at the Peabody Institute. His teachers and mentors include Richard Goode, Hung-Kuan Chen, Peter Frankl, Jerome Lowenthal, John Perry, and Stewart Gordon.
