About Daniel

Daniel Gurevich is the Instructor of Oboe at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Praised for his elegant musicality and outgoing spirit, Gurevich has become a sought-after oboist across the United States, performing on both the East and West Coasts.

He served as Principal Oboe of the Rogue Valley Symphony in Oregon and regularly performs supporting and principal roles with the San Francisco Symphony, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony, among many others.

Gurevich has received fellowships at music festivals all across North America, including the Aspen Music Festival and School and the Monteral-based Orchestre de la Francophonie. He recently performed with the Emmanuel Music Bach Institute in Boston as the oboe and oboe d’amore fellow.

An avid orchestral musician and soloist, Gurevich is a two-time winner of the Junior Bach Festival and made his concerto debut with the Berkeley Youth Orchestra at age 13. He frequently performs chamber music of diverse ensembles and genres, and likes to create his own arrangements.

In addition to maintaining a successful private oboe studio in Brooklyn, Gurevich has taught at the Juilliard Pre-College and Music Advancement Programs (MAP), Mannes School of Music, and the Sewanee Music Festival. He is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy.

When not making reeds, Gurevich enjoys hiking, listening to vinyl records, and tasting cheeses!

I am passionate about teaching and sharing my love for music-making with my students. Together, we work to develop everything from the very basics to the most advanced skills, including the intricacies of technique, tone production, musicality, reed-making, and score study. It is crucial for talented young oboists to receive constructive guidance in a nurturing, supportive environment. I consider it a great personal responsibility to help my students to fall in love with the magic of music for the rest of their lives, and for them to become not only exemplary musicians but also exemplary people.
