About Dawn

A native Texan, Dawn Herron received her education from Sam Houston State University, graduating cum laude. There she studied with Andrew Wilson, Dr. Carol Smith, and Dr. Lisa Burrell.

As a performer, Herron has traveled to Eastern Europe performing in Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic. As a conductor, she has participated in master classes with Gary Lewis, Jeffery Grogran, and Larry Rachleff.

Herron has received many accolades as an orchestra director. Most recently, her Kleb Chamber Orchestra was selected as one of the 75th annual Midwest Clinic and Convention performing groups. In 2020, her Kleb Chamber Orchestra was a finalist in the Texas String Honor Orchestra competition.

During her tenure at Doerre, the Full Orchestra and String Orchestra placed in the finals numerous times, and the Doerre Full Orchestra was selected to perform in 2014 at the 68th annual Midwest Clinic and Convention. In 2008, she was a conductor of the Klein High School Texas Honor Full Orchestra at TMEA. Herron is currently in her 15th year of teaching and is serving as Director of Orchestras for her seventh year at Kleb Intermediate in Klein ISD. She holds memberships in TMEA and TODA.

In her free time, Herron enjoys spending time with her husband and their two beautiful children.
