About Fred

After his 2005 retirement from a career as an industrial electrician, Fred Tellier explored the world of acoustic guitar making. To his amazement he was quite good at this newly discovered craft, resulting in guitar sales and requests for more to be made. By 2009 Fred became a full-time luthier building custom guitars for clients and displaying his work at major guitar shows.

Fred follows a collaborative approach with his clients ensuring both are satisfied throughout the process and with the finished product. He builds several body styles from parlor size to dreadnought, jumbo, nylon crossover and Irish Bouzouki. Options include fanned frets, baritone, cutaways, armrest and rib rest bevels, cantilever necks and sound ports. Modern frequency tuning techniques are employed and records of all results are kept which allows reproduction or modification of each project to the desired tonal characteristics desired.

Fred takes pride in building all parts of each guitar, from wood selecting and preparation, to applying and buffing a very thin nitro lacquer finish. Each guitar comes with a double arched deluxe Boblin case manufactured in Montreal.
