About Hyemin

Dr. Hyemin Kim is a versatile performing artist and esteemed educator who serves as a faculty member in Collaborative Piano at Interlochen Arts Academy. Her career spans multiple roles, including soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, collaborator, and educator, showcasing her breadth and depth in the world of classical music.

As a featured soloist, Kim has performed with several orchestras, including the Philharmonische Solisten Bratislava at the Mozart Hall in Wiener Konzerthaus (Austria) and the Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra at Corson Auditorium (Michigan). She has also performed extensively across the U.S., Austria, and Korea, appearing at prestigious venues such as Youngsan Grace Hall and the Daejeon Culture and Art Foundation (Korea), Panmusica Austria, Grazer Landesmuseum (Austria), Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (New York), Music House Museum, and The Alluvion (U.S.). Kim has been recognized with numerous accolades in international piano competitions, including the Internationaler Wiener Pianisten-Wettbewerb, where she received the Schubert Special Award, as well as top prizes in the Concorso Internazionale de Esecuzione Musicale “NUOVI TALENTI” in Città di Spinea, the Concorso Internazionale in Città di Ischia, and the American Protégé International Competition.

A sought-after chamber musician, Kim has collaborated with renowned artists at prestigious festivals, including the Styrian Chamber Music Festival in Graz, Austria. Since 2023, she has also curated the Hyemin Kim's Chamber Music Concert Series at the Music House Museum in Williamsburg, Michigan. Her distinguished chamber music partners have included Ethan Bensdorf (Trumpet, New York Philharmonic), Hannah Hammel Maser (Principal Flute, Detroit Symphony), Keith Bunke (Principal Bassoon, Chicago Symphony), Justin Benavidez (Professor of Tuba/Euphonium, Eastman School of Music), William Purvis (Professor of Horn, Yale School of Music), and Yung-Chiao Wei (Professor of Double Bass, Louisiana State University).

Dr. Kim holds dual Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Michigan State University.
