About Johanna

Johanna Seidel has been dancing and teaching professionally for over a decade, with her credits spanning ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, musical theatre, and contemporary work.

Seidel resided in Chicago while professionally performing and developing a teaching career for over 5 years.

She has danced with Movementum Dance Project as a company member under the direction of Marissa Kaufmann, Alluvion Dance Chicago as a company member under the direction of Johnny Huntoon, and is a former company member of Esoteric Dance Project under the direction of the late Brenna Pierson-Tucker and Christopher Tucker.

Through these companies she had the opportunity to develop and present choreography for the professional stage. Seidel was recruited and selected to be a Chicago RAW Artist, presenting a self-choreographed contemporary solo. She has also worked as a featured dancer on various film projects, including DaNiro Elle Brown’s “Soft” and Joseph Roark’s “The Ballerina & The Swordsman,” as well as virtual projects throughout the shift to virtual performances.

Additionally, she was hired to work as a ballerina for the primetime television show “Empire” on FOX Networks. Seidel had the opportunity to dance as a featured dancer in multiple city dance festivals and performances, including Tri-Fecta Dance Collective and Simatikos Dance Chicago events.

She was a ballet, pointe, contemporary, and modern instructor for a variety of local and suburban studios throughout her years in Chicago. During her tenure living in Texas, Seidel earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from West Texas A&M University and danced with Lone Star Ballet as a professional company member and taught for WTAMU Dance Academy. She performed in “Texas: Musical Drama” in the Palo Duro Canyon. Seidel is an Interlochen Arts Camp and Interlochen Arts Academy alumna.

I believe in encouraging my students to develop technical skills while keeping their joy and passion alive. It is imperative to encourage students' growth using constructive feedback in addition to acknowledging their successes.
