About Muriel

Guitarist, harp-guitarist and composer Muriel Anderson is the first woman to have won the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship. Her “Nightlight Daylight” CD was listed as one of the top 10 CDs of the decade by Guitar Player Magazine and her “Heartstrings” accompanied the astronauts on the space shuttle. The recent CD with board game, “Sailing Dreams” is inspired by sailing to Maine with her partner Bryan Allen.

Muriel has recorded with country legend Chet Atkins and performed with Les Paul, Tommy Emmanuel, and many others at her annual Muriel Anderson’s ALL STAR GUITAR NIGHT®. The event raises funds for the Music for Life Alliance, a charity she founded to help provide instruments and lessons for kids. Muriel is a gifted educator via her books and instructional DVDs, workshops and online lessons.

Muriel fell in love with the guitar at an early age and learned every style available to her, beginning with folk, bluegrass, and then jazz in high school. She received a degree in music from DePaul University and went on to study with classical virtuoso Christopher Parkening and with Nashville legend Chet Atkins. She has composed music since age four or five, and has written solo instrumentals and vocals, choral and orchestral compositions. Her video of “Why Worry” on 20-string harp guitar garnered a total of over 8 million views online
