Rachel Velvikis
About Rachel
In-demand horn player Rachel Velvikis has a professional career spanning almost three decades. She is currently a member of Seraph Brass. The group was featured at the Lieksa Brass Week in Finland in 2017, 2018, and will return in 2021. Seraph has performed concerts in South Korea, toured all over China, were honored guests at the Forum Cultural Guanajuato in Mexico, and tours the U.S. extensively. Their most recent album, Asteria, was released through Summit Records, and received a Global Music Award and American Music Award for best chamber group. Velvikis will soon be debuting a horn sonata composed in her honor by Rudy Volkmann in August of 2020. On top of holding a private teaching studio, she is the professor of horn at the University of Richmond, is a member of the Williamsburg Symphony, performs with the Richmond and Virginia Symphonies, is the horn player for the Virginia Repertory Theatre, and performs for operas, ballets, chamber groups, and musicals all across the globe.
