R.J. Seibert III
About R.J.
R.J. Seibert III is the instructor of Instrumental Exploration at Interlochen Arts Camp. Currently, he is a Music Teacher in the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District in Woodhaven, Michigan where he teaches band, choir, and general music courses. Seibert previously taught in Blissfield Community Schools as the Elementary Music Teacher.
Before his teaching career, Seibert graduated from the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors of Music Education in 2018. He studied percussion under the direction of Dr. Roger B. Schupp and Dr. Dan Piccolo, and took conducting classes with the world-renowned Dr. Emily Freeman Brown. During this time, Seibert was an active performer in various performing ensembles, working alongside highly sought-after composers and musicians such as Jennifer Higdon, Sam Adler, Jennifer Jolley, as well as members of "Mantra Percussion." To complete his degree program, Seibert student taught with the Troy High School Bands under the direction of Brain P. Nutting and Jacob Greenwood.
As of 2024, Seibert completed his Masters in Music Education at Bowling Green State University. While teaching full-time, Seibert conducted research on the holistic relationship between music and nature in early childhood development within music education curricula.
Outside of the classroom, Seibert enjoys performing and spending quality time with his family and two dogs, Wren and Duck.
