Sydney Manno
About Sydney
Sydney Manno is a dancer, choreographer, theatre artist, and creative educator originally from western Pennsylvania. After graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in creative storytelling and arts education. She just recently graduated from Broadway Dance Center's Professional Semester program, where she launched herself into the professional world of performance, training in all dance styles with world-renowned educators and creative leaders.
Though her passion for dance performance remains a constant in her life, her true passion is the creation of dance—choreography. She believes that if dance is a universal language, choreography is community organizing, world-building, and the truest form of expression. While studying at Interlochen Arts Academy, she had the opportunity to choreograph a theatrical mainstage production of The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood, directed by Interlochen faculty and alumnus, Andrew McGinn. This launched her true love for creating, teaching, and sharing her art with people from all backgrounds, and for building community through the universal language of dance.
Manno is a dance educator to all. She currently teaches creative movement to preschool-age school groups. She has choreographed productions of a wide variety— from middle school musicals to off-Broadway productions to professional dance company performances. This has expanded her understanding of what it truly means to be an educator. She inspires as many people as she can with the power of dance— she's taught retired volunteer saxophone players to step-touch in productions of Jersey Boys, high school football players how to tap dance, and professional dancers to connect deeper with their storytelling. She strives always to inspire an individual's personal connection with dance and with themselves, and maybe help them see what's possible both in themselves and the world. Dance is healing.
