From a career on the ballet stage to his current role as a nonprofit leader, Interlochen prepared Michael Greer (IAA 93-95, IAA St 04) for a path he couldn’t even imagine as a high school student at Interlochen Arts Academy. He trained at some of the world’s most recognizable ballet institutions and was the first African-American employed by Ballet West, where he danced for six seasons.

Upon retirement from his performance career, Michael earned an M.B.A. from the Wharton School and embarked on a career in finance. He now combines his love for the arts with his business acumen as president and CEO at ArtsFund, a Seattle-based arts nonprofit which supports the arts through leadership, advocacy, and grantmaking. Michael also sits on numerous community boards, including the Economic Development District Board of the Puget Sound Regional Council and United Way of King County. With experience that spans both the private and nonprofit sectors, he believes in bridging those communities wherever possible.

Michael previously served as the executive director of Oregon Ballet Theatre and Portland Ballet in Maine.
