Sound Design Intensive

What You'll Learn
In our one-week program, you’ll learn how sound designers collaborate with design and production teams to create immersive music and sound effects for theatre, film, and animation. You’ll explore both modern theory and practical application, emerging with skills that will allow you to design any style of storytelling medium.
As a student at Interlochen's theatre summer camp, you will:
- Acquire practical sound design skills through hands-on practice
- Learn textual analysis techniques, creative conceptualization, and sonic vocabulary
- Work with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) to edit and manipulate sound
- Explore QLab, the industry-standard sound playback cueing software

Interlochen Arts Camp also offers a one-week Costume Design Intensive, a one-week Stage Management Intensive, and a three-week Theatre Design & Production program. Interlochen is home to the Arts Academy boarding high school, which offers theatre programs in Acting, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Design & Production for grades 9-12, as well as a post-graduate year.
