Fashion Summer Program for Grades 6-8

Why Take Fashion

Fashion is one of the first ways we learn to express ourselves and remains an important part of our identity throughout our lives. In this program, you'll learn how to bring the designs from your imagination, to paper, and then into real life—and blur the boundaries between clothing and wearable art. You'll master sewing skills, study famous designers, and develop your own cohesive fashion line.

What You'll Learn

In this course, you'll spend up to six hours per day immersed in the world of fashion. Inspired by both historical and contemporary fashion designers, you will design and construct a cohesive line of wearables for the end-of-session show. Our instructors will teach you the conceptual and technical skills you need to bring your designs to life—no sewing experience required! You will also:

  • Learn how to communicate your ideas through two-dimensional media
  • Develop a visually cohesive clothing line
  • Learn and implement a variety of sewing and garment construction techniques
  • Explore a wide variety of materials, discovering their uses and meaning

Throughout the session, you will also have the opportunity to attend virtual lectures, college presentations, and tutorials by guest artists.
