Bookmaking Techniques (Online)

Why Take Bookmaking Techniques

Learn the skills of bookbinding and artists' books to create journals, sketchbooks, or unique gifts.

The art of bookbinding has been around since the 2nd century BC. It’s the perfect example of functionality meeting creativity—while the bookbinder’s first concern is to protect and join the book’s pages, there’s also plenty of freedom in the process to make a thing of beauty. In this course, you’ll learn the process of making a simple folded book, pamphlet, and decorative Japanese stab binding, while also learning the basics of bookmaking, including measuring and cutting techniques, folding, gluing, stitching, and choosing the best paper for your project.
