Margot Marlatt (IAA 78-80) and her husband moved to beautiful Lake Maxincuckee in Culver, Indiana after 30 years living and working in central Indiana. Marlatt continues to play cello professionally in area orchestras and in chamber concerts. Marlatt now works as a fundraiser for Culver Academies, a boarding school for grades 9-12.
Dr. Jerry Young (IAC Fac 83-93, IAA Fac 21-22) and co-author Professor Scott Watson of the University of Kansas recently published A Practical Guide to Studio Teaching in Higher Education in cooperation with GIA Publishing of Chicago. The book is intended as a guide for aspiring studio teachers and for those new to the profession.
Michelle Slater (IAC 90, IAA 90-92) published her book, Starving to Heal in Siberia: My Radical Recovery from Late-Stage Lyme Disease and How it Could Help Others, with Greenleaf Book Group Press on Sept. 13, 2022.
Rufus Wainwright (IAC 90) is featured on the title track of Carly Rae Jepsen’s new album, The Loneliest Time. The album was released on Oct. 7, 2022.
Corinne Forstot-Burke (IAC 92-93, 95; IAC St 96) has been appointed Head of the Music Library at the University of Michigan. With a rich background in performing arts and academic librarianship, she will provide leadership and direct priorities for the University of Michigan Music Library to align with the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, & Dance.
Marshall Gilkes (IAC 94, IAA 95-96) recently released his latest album, Cyclic Journey. The album features Gilkes’ nine-movement suite of the same name performed by an all-star ensemble of performers, including jazz drummer Johnathan Blake, trumpeter Ethan Bensdorf (IAC 95-00, 02), trombonist Joseph Alessi, and bass trombonist Nick Schwartz (IAA 01-02).
Josh Groban (IAC 97-98) will star as the Beast in Disney’s forthcoming live action/animated special, Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration. The production’s star-studded cast also includes Shania Twain, Martin Short, and H.E.R.
Daya (IAC 13) released her new EP, In Between Dreams, on Sept. 16, 2022. The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter will begin a national tour on Oct. 21 in Austin, Texas.
Chris Gonzalez (IAC 18-19, IAA 18-20, IAC St 21-22) was recently appointed bass trombonist for the Rize Orchestra, a Chicago-based orchestra that seeks to address the lack of diversity often found in classical music. Gonzalez performed as bass trombonist and tubist on their newest album, Emancipation.
Myah Robbins (IAC 22) published her first poetry book, One Perspective from the End of the World, a collection of pandemic poetry written through the eyes of a teenager. The book is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Her book launch party and reading will occur in State College, Pennsylvania on Nov. 13, 2022.
