Composition Audition Requirements
Your composition application will consist of four components: Scores, recordings of your work, an instrumental audition, and a short video introduction.
Scores
Please submit a minimum of three original scores. Digital files or mailed hard copies are both acceptable.
Digital - Please upload your scores to your application in the Education Community in PDF format. If the instrumentation exceeds six parts, please set the print area to 11x17 for easier viewing.
Hard copy - Please print scores with more than six instruments or parts on 11x17 tabloid paper. Works for small ensembles and choral groups may be printed on 8.5x11 paper. Mail your printed scores to:

Recordings
A recording of your work is required. Either a MIDI rendition or live recording is acceptable. Please upload audio files to your application in the Education Community.
Instrument Audition
All composition students are required to participate in an ensemble, such as band, choir, or orchestra. Please prepare and present the required audition materials listed on your primary instrument’s page. Please upload audition files to your application in the Education Community.
Video Introduction
Tell us about who you are as an artist. Record a short (2-5 minutes) video introduction, including information about your artistic journey, such as the kinds of classes or lessons you have taken, your artistic accomplishments, any awards you have won, groups you have participated in, artistic experiences that have been particularly meaningful, and anything else you would like for us to know about you as an artist.
Audition Guidance
If you are unable to present all of the suggested audition materials, please submit materials that best display your present level and potential.
