The double bass is a rich, deeply emotive instrument. During this intensive, you will expand your abilities alongside other dedicated young bassists and accomplished instructors. Together, you will work to refine your skills and prepare for the next steps in your music journey.

What You'll Learn

This program will help you prepare for college auditions and further study in classical bass.

Designed for motivated double bassists, the program's curriculum includes:

  • Essentials of solo playing

  • Chamber music and small ensemble

Distinguished Faculty

The Interlochen strings faculty have toured the world in prestigious quartets and ensembles, held professorships at top-rated universities and conservatories, and made their mark as orchestra players and soloists. Our dedicated faculty comes together each summer to help the next generation of young musicians thrive. 

The Music Center

Our state-of-the-art 60,000 square-foot music facility has two 3,500 square-foot rehearsal halls, two recording studios which allow for rehearsal and performance recordings in multiple venues on campus with multiple ensemble and practice rooms, and individual faculty teaching studios. Learn more about The Music Center.

Additional Opportunities

We have additional camp program opportunities for young violists, including the Orchestra & Wind Ensemble program and the Advanced String Quartet program, both of which start immediately following this intensive.

Interlochen is also home to the Arts Academy boarding high school, which offers six music programs, as well as a postgraduate year.
