Piano Summer Program for Grades 3-6
Why Take Piano
Famed for its versatility and beauty, the piano has stood the test of time. Through playing, practicing, and dedicated instruction, you’ll immerse yourself in the study of this powerful instrument. Your experience at Interlochen Arts Camp will help you make strides toward becoming the musician you’re meant to be.
What You'll Learn
Your days will include rehearsals and coaching with members of our music faculty, where you'll refine your skills and learn new techniques both on your own and collaboratively with other students. You'll learn advanced techniques, discuss practice methods, tackle challenging repertoire, and sharpen your performance skills. Curriculum will include:
- Private lessons
- Performance opportunities
- Representative selections
- Applied musicianship classes
- Supervised practice sessions
- Piano hour
You'll also have plenty of fun opportunities to make new friends from around the world and enjoy outdoor adventures.
This program does not require an audition and enrolls on a first-come, first-serve basis. Perspective students must have six months of piano experience and the ability to read music. We encourage you to apply as early as possible. Advanced piano players are encouraged to audition for the Junior Advanced Piano program.
Junior Honors Recital
Interlochen offers an Honors Recital competition for musicians in the Junior Division. Juniors accepted into the finals will perform in a special Honors Recital scheduled mid-week during the 2nd week of your session.
