Junior Honors Recital
Interlochen offers an Honors Recital competition for musicians in the Junior Division. The preliminary round of competition requires students to prepare a video audition, which must be submitted online through our Education Community. Juniors accepted into the finals will perform in a special Honors Recital scheduled mid-week during the 2nd week of their session.
*Auditions due May 18
Entrance Requirements
The honors recital competition is open to all Junior instrumentalists (woodwind, brass, percussion, string, and piano) who have completed the regular admissions process and have been formally accepted to Interlochen Arts Camp.
Junior competition entrants may be attending for 2, 4, or 6 weeks.
Those selected to perform in an honors recital will be notified via email by June 6. Collaborative pianists will be assigned to accompany each honors recital performer prior to the beginning of Camp.
Audition and Repertoire Guidelines:
- Students may perform any work of their choosing. The selection should consist of one movement or could be a single piece and must be memorized. Please consult with your private teacher or ensemble director for guidance.
- Auditions should be accompanied, if possible.
- Auditions must be in video format – faulty videos will be disqualified.
- If selected, you will be playing the submitted audition piece in the Juniors Honors Recital. There is a 10-minute maximum time limit for the competition.
