Strings Summer Program for Grades 3-6

Why Take Strings

Strings are special—their history, resonance, and range set them apart as the ideal instruments for showcasing virtuosity. At Interlochen Arts Camp, you'll refine your techniques and develop your voice as a solo and ensemble artist. Come experiment with a variety of styles and move toward your highest potential as a musician.

What You'll Learn

Your days will include rehearsals and coaching with members of our music faculty, where you'll refine your skills and learn new techniques both on your own and collaboratively with other students. You'll learn advanced techniques, discuss practice methods, tackle challenging repertoire, and sharpen your performance skills. Curriculum will include:

  • Junior String Orchestra or String Ensemble
  • String Workshop
  • Musicianship (Music Notation Skills)
  • Dalcroze Eurhythmics

You'll also have plenty of fun opportunities to make new friends from around the world and enjoy outdoor adventures.

This program does not require an audition and enrolls on a first-come, first-serve basis. Prospective students must have six months of experience on their instrument and be able to read music. We encourage you to apply as early as possible. Advanced string players are encouraged to audition for the Junior Advanced Strings program.
