Music Production & Engineering Summer Program for Grades 6-8
Why Take Music Production & Engineering
Music production bridges the gap between artistry and technology. During this three-week program, our expert faculty will challenge you to develop your skills in new and exciting ways. This is your opportunity to explore your unique talent inside a state-of-the-art studio.
What You'll Learn
During Interlochen's music summer camp, you will flex your creative muscles as you learn the challenging and detailed craft of producing professional-level tracks. Our curriculum includes:
- Developing portfolio-ready songs and music for distribution
- Producing professional-quality recordings with a digital audio workstation (DAW)
- Analyzing production techniques from seminal musical works
- Integrating music technology within the music-making process
Program Specialties
Students in this program will learn from cutting edge software. You will need to bring a laptop for both in-studio and individual work, as well as the following:
- ProTools
- External digital audio interfaces
- Portable MIDI keyboards
- Logic Pro
- Digital Performer
The Music Center
Our state-of-the-art 60,000 square-foot music facility has two 3,500 square-foot rehearsal halls, two recording studios which allow for rehearsal and performance recordings in multiple venues on campus with multiple ensemble and practice rooms, and individual faculty teaching studios. Live Music Sessions
While at Interlochen, you will have the opportunity to work with your fellow students to record live music. Test your skills with a variety of recording techniques using top-of-the-line tools and technology.
Additional Opportunities
Ninth grade is a choice year for students. We also offer Music Production & Engineering for high school students. Interlochen is also home to the Arts Academy boarding high school, where you can major in Music Production & Engineering within our Music Division.
