Winds, Brass, and Percussion Summer Program for Grades 3-6
Why Take Wind, Brass, and Percussion
Whether you love the French horn’s powerful sound or the triangle’s silvery chime, you’ll find the perfect place to learn and grow as a musician at Interlochen Arts Camp. Embrace your potential in wind, brass, or percussion with focused study in your area of interest. In this program, you'll challenge and develop yourself with the support of expert faculty and like-minded young musicians.
What You'll Learn
Your days will include rehearsals and coaching with members of our music faculty, where you'll refine your skills and learn new techniques both on your own and collaboratively with other students. You'll learn advanced techniques, discuss practice methods, tackle challenging repertoire, and sharpen your performance skills. Curriculum will include:
- Small-group lessons and performance workshop
- Dalcroze Eurhythmics
- Junior Choir
- Environmental Exploration
You'll also have plenty of fun opportunities to make new friends from around the world and enjoy outdoor adventures.
This program does not require an audition and enrolls on a first-come, first-serve basis. Prospective students must have six months of experience on their instrument and be able to read music. We encourage you to apply as early as possible. Advanced string players are encouraged to audition for the Junior Advanced Strings program.
Junior Honors Recital
Interlochen offers an Honors Recital competition for musicians in the Junior Division. Juniors accepted into the finals will perform in a special Honors Recital scheduled mid-week during the 2nd week of your session.
