Five Interlochen Arts Academy students to attend the inaugural High School Songwriters Summit in Los Angeles
The summit, which features songwriting workshops with established music professionals, will culminate with a performance at the GRAMMY Museum in downtown L.A.
Five Interlochen Arts Academy students will attend the first annual High School Songwriters Summit (HSSS), a three-day event in Los Angeles which brings together gifted student songwriters for collaboration, professional development, and performance.
Students Colin Griffis, Braedan Handy, Sebastian Jimenez Pardo, Vivi Rogers, and Kaya Shin-Sherman, all Singer-Songwriter majors, will be joined by Courtney Kaiser-Sandler, Interlochen’s Associate Director of Contemporary Music and Collaborative Projects and co-founder of HSSS. The group will meet with students from the Orange County School of the Arts (Santa Ana, CA) and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (Los Angeles, CA). From April 11-13, they will work together to craft original songs while participating in professional development workshops with members of the Los Angeles music industry community.
“I couldn’t be more excited to introduce my students to the vibrant world of professional music in Los Angeles,” says Kaiser-Sandler. “At the HSSS, these students will learn from experts, network with other young songwriters, and come away with skills and experiences that will truly set them apart from their peers.”
The HSSS will culminate with a free performance at the GRAMMY Museum at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles on April 13, 2023 at 7:00pm. The concert will feature original songs written by the students during the HSSS.
The HSSS is made possible by the generous support of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the GRAMMY Museum, the Evergreen Enterprise Experience, Upstaging, the Interlochen Arts Academy, the Orange County School of the Arts, and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
