Interlochen Arts Academy student Madeleine Zuckerman places first in Michigan NATS competition
Zuckerman received top honors in the Upper High School Classical Treble Voice division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Michigan Student Auditions.
Interlochen Arts Academy senior Madeleine Zuckerman placed first in the Upper High School Classical Treble Voice division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Michigan Student Auditions.
A classical voice major from Norwich, Vermont, Zuckerman studies with Laura Osgood Brown at Interlochen. In addition to her accolades from the Michigan district of NATS, Zuckerman was recently named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Competition; a finalist in Classical Singer’s Fall Competition; a finalist in Interlochen Arts Academy’s annual Concerto Competition; and the recipient of an Honorable Mention in the YoungArts competition. Zuckerman will compete for a chance to move onto the national level of the NATS Student Auditions at the Great Lakes NATS Competition in February 2022.
“Maddy came to Interlochen last year as a junior and worked so hard to build her technique and improve upon her wonderful natural talent,” Osgood Brown said. “This, combined with her excellent scholarship, artistry, and work ethic has really paid off this year with so many opportunities and recognitions. It means a lot when a student is recognized in the greater artistic community—it builds confidence and contacts, and provides them with valuable feedback as they continue on their journey. And it's always nice to have confirmation that the work that we have done in our Interlochen bubble is valued and recognized in the field.”
