One-Act Festival to feature students on stage and behind the scenes
Students will direct and star in 12 published one-act plays that span genres and styles.
From selecting the scripts to casting and directing, Interlochen Arts Academy theatre students will manage every aspect of the production of the upcoming 2020 One-Act Festival. Performances are free and will take place Jan. 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m., and on Jan. 25 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. in Harvey Theatre. Tickets are not required.
The professionally written plays encompass comedy, drama, and experimental theatre. Theatre students who completed a course in directing where selected by faculty not only to direct each play, but to research and select from among professionally published scripts. Twelve one-act plays will be performed—six will be staged Jan. 23 and 25, and another six Jan. 24 and 25.
“Our students rise to the challenge of bringing multiple genres of theatre to life,” said Bill Church, Director of Theatre. “Their energy and commitment make these short plays especially invigorating and exciting."
