Traverse City makes The Wall Street Journal’s ‘10 Best Places to Go in 2025’ list
The publication cited the region’s thriving restaurant scene, cosmopolitan feel, and natural splendor in its designation of the area as a must-see destination.
The Traverse City area was recently recognized by The Wall Street Journal as one of its “10 Best Places to Go in 2025.”
Writer Andrew Nelson hailed the region for its vibrant restaurant scene, surprisingly cosmopolitan feel, and abundant natural beauty—particularly Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
Traverse City was one of only three places in the United States included in this year’s top-ten list—joining Maui, Hawaii and Macon, Georgia. Other must-see destinations included Amsterdam; Morocco; Malta; Niseko, Japan; Madhya Pradesh, India; South Caicos – Turks and Caicos; and the Magdalena River in Columbia.
The Wall Street Journal is the latest media outlet to recognize Traverse City as an emerging global travel destination. The area was selected as one of CNN’s best places to visit in 2024; featured in The New York Times’ “36 Hours” series in May 2024; and lauded as an ideal spot for fall color touring by Travel + Leisure in September.
Arts Camp and Arts Academy students and their families enjoy rich opportunities to explore northern Michigan beyond Interlochen’s campus. Trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes have been part of the Camp experience for more than 70 years, and Academy students regularly travel to Traverse City and the surrounding area for field trips, outdoor adventures, shopping, entertainment, and more.
