International Students
Our international students are an important and impressive part of our community. Hailing from dozens of different nations and representing all areas of artistic study, international students are one of the reasons Interlochen Arts Academy is defined by excellence. We learn from you as much as you learn from us.
As an international student, you are encouraged to blend your unique culture into our program. Studying abroad can be challenging, but also very rewarding. It’s our goal to create a supportive environment where you can grow both as an artist and as a person.

Admission
The application process for international students requires additional materials, including English proficiency testing results. We have a step-by-step guide that will help you upload your information, audition/portfolio, financial aid, and any other documents you may need. Learn more at How to Apply.
English as a Language Curriculum
Our English as a Language program is here to help you gain confidence in your English language abilities and give you the tools to excel in your coursework. All non-native English speakers will be asked to take a placement exam to determine what class best meets their needs.
Interlochen is a safe place to grow, and to take opportunities and risks as an artist. Most of the risks I’ve taken have led me to learn something.
