Musical Theatre Showcase Summer Program for Grades 6-8

Why Take Musical Theatre Showcase

Take your passion for musical theatre to the next level with classes in singing, acting, and dancing. This program, designed for grades 6-8, culminates in a musical theatre revue showcase.

What You'll Learn

The Musical Theatre Showcase program is designed for students with moderate experience in musical theatre. You'll work with high-caliber instructors to develop the physicality, knowledge, and tools to be a successful musical theatre performer.

At the heart of the program are the musical theatre rehearsals, which encompass vocal work, movement, and a daily acting technique class. The session culminates with a performance of a high-energy, highly entertaining musical revue.

As a student in the Musical Theatre Showcase program, you'll:

  • Improve your skills in acting, singing, and various dance styles
  • Understand the collaborative nature of the theatre arts
  • Apply acting techniques to the performance of a song

Come join us for a summer arts camp experience you'll never forget!

Theatre at Interlochen Arts Camp

We offer a wide variety of opportunities for young actors and theatre enthusiasts in grades 3-12. Whether you're a nine-year-old exploring theatre for the first time or a 16-year-old Shakespeare buff, Interlochen has a program that is perfectly tailored to your age and interests.

Program Highlights

Performance Opportunities

The summer program ends with a musical theatre revue showcase. You'll have a chance to show off your new skills for an audience of your peers and family members!

Recreational Activities

This might be an arts camp, but it's still camp! In addition to theatre rehearsals, you'll have the chance to explore the woods and swim, play field games, and learn cool skills like archery.

Additional Opportunities

Interlochen also offers a Musical Theatre Production program, which stages a fully produced musical with scenery, lighting, and full costumes. If you're interested in scenery, costumes, lighting, or stage management, you can apply for the Theatre Design & Production program.

Interlochen is home to the Arts Academy boarding high school, which offers theatre programs in Acting, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Design & Production for grades 9-12, as well as a post-graduate year.

I'm learning so much in my classes! One is all about the physicality of acting and building an ensemble. My teacher loves to focus on specificity. Just the other day, we were analyzing the way people walked and what it said about their character. I love that we can dive into these things here.
