Why Take Storyboarding

Spend a week on our breathtaking campus exploring the process of boarding animation for television, all while working one-on-one with a master storyboard artist.

What You'll Learn

At Interlochen's animation summer camp, you'll have daily instruction to take you through the entire process of boarding animation for television. You'll work to create sequential storytelling that utilizes character acting, film knowledge, and drawing skills to storyboard sequences for use in your portfolio.

Program Highlights

The DeRoy Center for Film Studies

The DeRoy Center for Film Studies is the only facility in the country dedicated to film and animation studies at the high school level. You'll have access to professional facilities and equipment including specialized classrooms, edit suites, a multipurpose 2D/3D studio, a soundstage, stop motion rigs, cameras and lighting packages, and a 180-seat viewing space. You'll have the technology you need at every step of the animation process.

Additional Opportunities

The Film & New Media program offers additional summer programs, including Filmmaking and Animation. These programs begin immediately following this program. Interlochen is also home to the Arts Academy boarding high school, which offers majors in Film & New Media and Creative Writing for grades 9-12, as well as a post-graduate year.
