Jon Krosnick (IAC/NMC 69-76, UNIV 77) plays drums on the 30-year-old Bay Area jazz group Charged Particles’s new album, Live at the Baked Potato (Summit Records). The album is a tribute to the music of jazz great Michael Brecker and features saxophonist Tod Dickow.
Kathleen Balma (IAA 90-92) published a book of poetry, From Your Hostess At The T&A Museum, through Black Spring Press Group, an international press based in the United Kingdom. Poems from the collection—including the book's titular poem—have appeared in the Pushcart Prize Anthology and the Montreal International Poetry Prize Anthology.
Paola Prestini’s (IAC 90-91, IAA 91-93) newest album, Houses of Zodiac, was recently featured on the cover of Strings Magazine. The publication hailed the collection of poems for cello, which was performed by Jeffrey Zeigler, as “One of the greatest and most ambitious solo cello albums of all time… a stunner.” Prestini is currently the Paul Fromm Resident in Composition at the American Academy in Rome and was recently selected as one of the Sundance Institute’s 2021-22 Art of Practice Fellows.
Danny Abosch (IAC 04-06) composed the music and lyrics for Goosebumps: The Musical. The cast album—which features an all-star lineup of Broadway performers including Krystina Alabado, Alex Brightman, Noah Galvin, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Will Roland, Stephanie Styles, & R.L. Stine—was recently released on Ghostlight Records.
Ben Levi Ross (IAC 12-13) made his film debut as Freddy in the Lin-Manuel Miranda-directed musical drama Tick, Tick...Boom! The film, which is based on Jonathan Larson’s semi-autobiographical musical of the same name, will be available to stream on Netflix starting Nov. 19. Ross previously appeared as the titular character in the original national tour of Dear Evan Hansen.
